As of January 1, 2019, the cash turnover of Ukraine was 400.1 billion hryvnias.
It is reported by the press service of the regulator.
As noted, of the total amount in circulation was 2.2 billion hryvnia coins (13.1 billion pieces) and 397.8 billion hryvnias in banknotes (2.95 billion pieces).
"This is 10.7% more than at the beginning of last year (361.5 billion hryvnia as of January 1, 2018). The increase in demand for cash is due to the needs of the growing economy of Ukraine in the means of payment," the statement said.
“The average number of banknotes per Ukrainian was 69 pieces, and the change coins - 293 pieces (as of January 1, 2018 - 70 banknotes and 293 change coins, respectively),” the regulator said.
According to the report, most of the amount in cash circulation is banknotes in denominations of 200 hryvnia and change coins in denominations of 10 kopecks (22.8% and 29.1%, respectively).
Earlier it was reported that the National Bank began selling hryvnia rolls.
