The European Union plans to simplify the visa regime for short trips, linking it with the willingness of other countries to cooperate in migration policy. Reports about it DW.
It is reported that yesterday, January 29, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have reached an officially registered agreement on the new EU visa code, which provides for new rules for short trips. It is assumed that the reform will simplify tourist and business trips and will contribute to the fight against illegal migration.
In particular, the application for a visa can be submitted 6 months before the trip (now for 3 months), the price of the visa will increase from 60 to 80 euros. There will also be a direct link between the speed and price of visa services and the readiness of the country, which issues a visa, for cooperation with the EU in migration policy.
This agreement should be supported by the European Parliament, after which it will be submitted for approval to the EU Council.
