The European Central Bank has stopped printing banknotes of € 500 issued in 2002. In the updated series "Europe" this denomination will be absent, the press service of the central bank said.
Since January 27, most of the national central banks of the European Union will withdraw this banknote from circulation. It will continue its release until April 26, inclusive, only Deutsche Bundesbank and Oesterreichische Nationalbank, the report says.
At the same time, a 500-euro bill will remain legal tender. It can be exchanged in any national bank of Europe.
According to the press service of the NBU, Ukrainian banks will also exchange the bill while it is in circulation.
The new Europe series will consist of banknotes of €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200.
